On November 19, 2024, New Growth Transit proudly made headlines on KSHB Channel 41 News in Kansas City! Reporter Grant Stephens traveled to El Dorado Springs, MO, to capture the story of our monumental milestone: one million miles of free rides in 2024.

During the segment, Pamela Bowen shared a deeply moving story about her late husband’s connection with their volunteer driver. In some of his final days, the rides became more than just transportation—they were moments of joy. Pamela recalled how her husband would laugh and perk up during their rides, often sharing warm conversations with their driver. These moments brought a lightness to an otherwise heavy time.
On the other side of the wheel, volunteer driver Rowann Bastow expressed her love for being part of New Growth Transit. She eagerly checks her emails each day to see who she’ll get to meet and help. Her words captured the heart of what it means to be a volunteer:building community while offering vital support.
