Vital Farms Supports New Growth's Work
National Egg Brand Vital Farms backs New Growth’s Local Food Work
Pastured-Raised egg company is focused on sustainable family farming
Rural Missouri community development corporation New Growth is thrilled to announce a program-building investment by national consumer brand Vital Farms. The leading pastured-raised egg producing company recently donated $25,000 to support New Growth’s work building food and farm businesses that supply sustainably produced food to local and regional markets.
“We are inspired by the incredible work New Growth is doing to strengthen farms and food systems in rural Missouri,” said Jennifer Gregg, Vice President of Operations at Vital Farms. “As a company equally committed to raising the standards in our food system alongside our more than 375 family farms, we’re excited about the idea of building something meaningful with New Growth this year and beyond!”
New Growth helps beginning farmers get established and sell their high-quality foods into local and regional markets. The organization’s Food Systems Program also works to address gaps in processing and distribution available to small, regenerative agriculture farms. Together with partners in five states, New Growth has formed the USDA-supported Heartland Regional Food Business Center, which provides essential business development support to small food and farm businesses across the region.
This timely investment also highlights the importance of initiatives like New Growth’s upcoming Farm to Fork Summit, scheduled for March 7 in Nevada, MO. The annual event brings together farmers, food businesses, and community stakeholders to foster collaboration and connection, with sessions on market expansion, business management, and practical farming techniques to strengthen local food systems.
“Vital Farms’ investment in New Growth will help us make sure people can get the excellent local food that we know local farms can provide,” said Katie Nixon, Food Systems Program Director. “We welcome Vital Farms’ support for our work making local food the easy choice for everyone.”
