Warsaw, Missouri, native Michelle King has worked professionally in rodeo and country music. Her current career as the originator and owner of Main Event Wedding Boutique and Event Rental in downtown Warsaw builds on a need and opportunity she found back home.

King started the business to address a common small-town frustration; that is, lack of easy access to some of the finer things in life, like a designer wedding dress and personal fitting services to go with it. Most people expect to travel half a day to a larger city for anything like Main Event’s selection and service.

The availability of extra special dresses, tuxedos, event décor, and supplies, from flatware to dance floors, is a pleasant surprise also for many who are moving to the area. Warsaw is attracting new and returning residents with a focus on developing recreational assets, such as an extensive network of biking and walking trails and the Benton County town’s riverfront Drake Harbor Park.

King markets her products online also, of course. But Main Event’s personal fittings and wedding consultations make a big difference to many in the rural region looking for that kind of service.
